Dad – Chris
He would say he’s an IT consultant. I would say that he’s a geek. It’s just easier to say. Then I don’t usually have to explain that he builds the back end of web sites. I’m not even sure what that means. I know it has something to do with databases. He’s a good egg. He takes wonderful care of our family. He works hard, and more than anything, he loves us. Of late, he’s got too many (I think) irons in the fire at work. He also is the Pack Leader to Ryan’s Cub Scout Pack. He teaches Sunday School to the third graders at our church. He works with another charity on their board of directors. Most importantly to me though, he is here for me, and he doesn’t complain too much when he’s run out of good underwear and has to wear the old ragged ones. God bless him.
Mom – Jane
I was a stayed at home mom until very recently. I was a corporate accountant and planned to go back to work after my first child was born, but after viewing the little cages at the baby zoo (aka day care) I couldn’t do it. We wanted our kids close together, so I got pregnant with baby #2 when baby #1 was 9 months old. I thought it was a great idea until baby #1 started walking. By then it was too late, but now I wouldn’t change it for the world. We did, however, stop at 2 babies. My activities have been somewhat limited since Ryan was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, but lately, I’ve begun expanding my horizons. I went back to work a few months ago. I am also the Vice President for our school’s PTA and the Treasurer for our Cub Scount Pack. I taught Sunday School with Chris the last couple of years. My largest responsibility, of course, is the kids and the house. The kids are in better shape than the house. Laundry is my nemesis. It is my goal to complete the laundry one day.
Child #1 – Ryan (aka Buddy, Heckle)
5th Grader. Boy. Asperger’s Syndrome. He makes me smile. He makes me pull my hair out. I love him with all my heart. Check out his bio on the About Ryan tab.
Child #2 – Sarah (aka Sis, Darlin, Sugar, Princess, Pumpkin Pie, Jeckle)
Sarah is in 4th grade. She is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. She’s concerned with how other’s feel. She worries when someone is sad. She is truly a caring soul. Some of Sarah’s favorite things are to talk, make art, talk, play with friends, talk, eat ice cream, talk, talk, argue with me, and talk. She has a bit of a strange roll to play in the family. Even though she’s the younger sister, in so many ways, she acts as the older, more responsible sibling. She watches out for Ryan, and she tries to help him when she notices that he’s having trouble. (Though nice, she has yet to learn that sometimes the struggle is the point.) She also has her moments of pure little sisterness. She hates to be alone, so if she’s bored, she’ll drive Ryan to distraction. Then they fight. Even though it’s irritating, it’s nice to see Ryan and Sarah have a typical relationship in some ways. I love her with all my heart.
